How Australian Steel Coating Built an Outsourced Growth Engine Without Hiring an Internal Marketing Team

Overview

Australian Steel Coating (ASC) is a Victoria-based contractor specialising in industrial coatings, abrasive blasting, corrosion protection, and passive fire protection.

Like many established industrial businesses, ASC had built its reputation through quality workmanship, repeat clients, referrals, and industry relationships. The business had strong technical expertise and a proven ability to deliver projects, but lacked a structured marketing and outbound business development system.

ASC wanted to increase visibility, strengthen its online presence, create consistent content, and build a repeatable process for engaging potential clients. Rather than hiring multiple specialists internally, ASC chose to outsource the entire growth function.

Think Big Digital supported ASC by building a coordinated system that connected founder branding, company presence, content creation, lead research, outbound campaigns, automation, AI workflows, and appointment-generation support.

The Challenge

At the start of the project, ASC had no coordinated outbound marketing system.

There was no company LinkedIn page, no founder-led content strategy, no newsletter, no prospecting database, no structured outreach process, and no documented brand voice. Marketing activity was dependent on available time, which is common for owner-led industrial businesses focused on project delivery.

The challenge was not simply creating posts. The challenge was building a complete system that could support visibility, credibility, lead generation, and future business development.

Our Approach

Think Big Digital treated ASC’s marketing as an outsourced growth function, not a set of disconnected services.

The goal was to connect founder branding, company presence, content, lead research, outbound campaigns, automation, AI workflows, and appointment generation into one working system.

This allowed ASC to build market visibility while staying focused on operations.

What We Built

Founder Positioning & LinkedIn Presence

The first step was strengthening Dominic Matiasik’s LinkedIn profile.

We refined the profile positioning, headline, About section, and messaging so Dominic’s online presence better reflected his experience, leadership, and role within the industrial coatings sector.

This gave prospects a stronger first impression when they viewed his profile after receiving a connection request, message, or email.

Company LinkedIn Presence

We then created ASC’s company LinkedIn presence.

The company page gave ASC a professional place to publish updates, showcase work, and build credibility with prospects, partners, and industry contacts. It also supported outbound activity by giving leads a place to verify the business before responding.

For an industrial contractor, this kind of visible digital presence helps reinforce trust when prospects are evaluating service providers.

Content System for Ongoing Visibility

Once the foundation was in place, we built a weekly content system designed to keep ASC visible to relevant buyers and industry contacts over time.

This included founder posts, company updates, project-based content, industry commentary, visual assets, and newsletter planning. The objective was not to chase vanity metrics, but to ensure ASC stayed visible to the right people over time.

For an industrial business, the buyer may not need coating services today. Consistent visibility helps the company stay remembered when the need comes up later.

Targeted Prospect Pipeline & Lead Research

Content alone does not create a growth engine.

Think Big Digital also built a targeted lead research process focused on Victorian industrial businesses that matched ASC’s ideal customer profile. This included researching companies, identifying decision-makers, refining target segments, and building prospect databases for LinkedIn and email outreach.

The goal was to avoid random outreach and focus on companies where ASC had a realistic future fit.

LinkedIn Outreach & Outbound Campaigns

After building the prospect pipeline, we implemented outbound campaigns across LinkedIn and email.

This included LinkedIn automation through Waalaxy, manual customised messages, connection campaigns, follow-up sequences, re-engagement messages, appointment campaigns, and custom email outreach.

Messaging was refined over time based on prospect behaviour, replies, non-responses, and market feedback.

The result was a practical outbound system that could create conversations without requiring Dominic to manually manage every step.

Custom AI System

A key part of the project was building a custom AI system for ASC.

We created a custom GPT trained around ASC’s services, market, target audience, brand voice, outreach strategy, content style, and messaging frameworks.

This gave ASC a repeatable system for creating posts, emails, LinkedIn messages, follow-ups, visuals, and campaign ideas while keeping tone and positioning consistent. The AI system also helped speed up research, campaign planning, and content production.

Visual & Video Asset Creation

To support the content strategy, we also created visual content and AI-assisted creative assets.

This included LinkedIn graphics, image concepts, campaign visuals, and video support assets designed to make ASC’s content more engaging and professional.

These assets helped the company move beyond text-only posting and build a more complete brand presence.

Results Achieved

The project helped ASC move from fragmented marketing activity to a more structured outsourced growth system that combined content, lead research, outreach, AI workflows, and appointment support.

Key outputs included:

  • Founder LinkedIn profile optimisation

  • Launch of ASC’s LinkedIn company presence

  • Ongoing founder and company content creation

  • Newsletter planning and educational content support

  • Victorian prospect database development

  • LinkedIn outreach campaigns and follow-up sequences

  • Email outreach support

  • Custom GPT system for content and messaging

  • Visual content and AI-assisted creative asset creation

  • A repeatable workflow for visibility, outreach, and appointment support

Campaign metrics, outreach activity, appointment records, and supporting proof can be included through screenshots, tracking sheets, and anonymised campaign records where appropriate.

Business Impact

This project gave Australian Steel Coating a more coordinated and repeatable growth system without requiring the business to build a full internal marketing team.

Instead of treating marketing, content, outreach, lead research, and business development as separate tasks, ASC gained a connected process that supported visibility, credibility, prospecting, and outbound engagement.

The work helped create a stronger market presence for both the founder and the company while also building the operational layer needed to support future outreach and appointment generation.

Outcome

The final result was a structured outsourced growth engine built around visibility, credibility, and business development support.

ASC moved from having little structured digital marketing infrastructure to operating with a more complete system that brought together founder branding, company presence, content, prospecting, outbound campaigns, AI workflows, and appointment-generation support.

For a business that had historically relied on reputation, referrals, and industry relationships, this created a more repeatable path for long-term visibility and growth.
