Recruitment Requirement Reality Check Skill

Requirement Reality Check Skill is a free Claude skill for recruiters who receive unrealistic or unclear job briefs.

It helps identify red flags in the requirement, explain the likely market reality, outline three practical options, and prepare client-facing language that can be used in a call or email.

It is built for recruiters who do not want to start searches that are unlikely to close without first resetting expectations around budget, seniority, skill mix, location, and timeline.

The skill gives five useful outputs:

1. Red Flags Found
Every unrealistic requirement is identified with a specific reason. For example, the budget may be too low for the seniority level, the role may combine too many different responsibilities, or the location requirement may make the search much harder.

2. Talent Pool Reality
The skill helps the recruiter think through how many people may realistically exist for this kind of role, how many may be reachable, and what kind of expectations they may have.

3. Three Realistic Options
The skill gives three practical paths the recruiter can discuss with the client. These may include increasing budget, reducing requirements, widening location, adjusting seniority, or extending the timeline.

4. What to Say to the Client
The skill provides simple client-facing language for a call or meeting, plus a shorter email version. The recruiter can copy, edit, and use this immediately.

5. Intake Questions
The skill suggests questions that help move the discussion from "what profile do you want?" to "what business problem are you solving?"

HOW TO INSTALL THE SKILL

This is made for non-technical recruiters. If you can attach a file to a WhatsApp message, you can install this. Read each step slowly. There is no rush.

Step 1 — Get a Claude account
Go to claude.ai and sign up. A Claude Pro account may be required for Projects and Skills, depending on Anthropic's current product rules. If you already use Claude, continue to Step 2.

Step 2 — Download the skill file
Click the download button or link on this page when it is published. A file called requirement-reality-check.skill will save to your computer. Keep it somewhere easy to find, such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.

Note: The download link will be added manually before this tool is published.

Step 3 — Create or open a Project in Claude
Open Claude. In the left panel, find Projects and create a new Project. You can name it "Recruiting Tools" or "My Recruiting Skills." If you already have a Project, you can use that.

Step 4 — Open Project Settings
Inside the Project, open Project Settings. Look for the Skills section.

Step 5 — Upload the skill
Click Add Skill or Upload Skill. Select the requirement-reality-check.skill file from your computer and upload it.

Step 6 — Save and finish
Save the Project settings. The skill should now be available inside chats in that Project.

HOW TO USE THE SKILL

Step 1 — Open a chat inside the same Claude Project
The skill works inside the Project where you uploaded it. Do not open a normal Claude chat outside the Project.

Step 2 — Type /
Type a forward slash on your keyboard. Claude should show a menu of available skills.

Step 3 — Select the skill
Choose requirement-reality-check from the list.

Step 4 — Paste the job description
Paste the full job description exactly as you received it from the client or hiring manager.

Step 5 — Press Enter
Claude will run the skill and return the analysis.

Expected output:
- red flags
- talent pool reality
- three realistic options
- client call script
- short email version
- intake questions

Alternative use:
If the slash command does not appear, paste the JD into Claude and write:
"Run a requirement reality check on this brief."

SOMETHING NOT WORKING?

Problem: I cannot find the / menu.
Fix: Make sure you are inside a chat in the Claude Project where the skill was uploaded. The skill may not appear in a normal Claude chat.

Problem: The skill is not showing after typing /.
Fix: Go back to Project Settings, open the Skills section, and upload the file again.

Problem: Claude says Projects or Skills need a paid plan.
Fix: Claude's product rules may require a paid plan for Projects or Skills. Check Anthropic's current Claude plan details before relying on this daily.

Problem: I still cannot install it.
Fix: You can still paste the job description into any Claude chat and write:
"Run a requirement reality check on this brief."
